Graphic Design/Web Management/Nonprofit Tech
We need a Mac-savvy intern with an exceptional interest in independent film, and big–time software skills in graphic design, website and database management, and MS Office suite. You'll be working in support of our Global Lens film series, Education Program and general publicity and marketing efforts, and here's what we'd like you to know:
• Graphic Design: Photoshop, InDesign and Word (document design)
• Web Design: Flash, CSS, HTML
• Database: Filemaker
• MS Office: Word, Excel, Powerpoint and all the rest
You don't need to be an expert, just someone who knows their way around well enough to edit photos one minute, update a Flash page the next, tinker with our database, and design a logo or online newsletter at the drop of hat (well, when we want you to do something, we won't drop a hat — we'll ask, and we'll give you a lot of guidance).
Think this is you? Good. We require a minimum 8-10 hour/week commitment, and high school and college applicants are welcome (if you’re in high school, you need to be 16 or older). That's not so much, and we think you can do it. So, send a resume and cover letter to:
employment@globalfilm.org
Please include "GFI Intern Application" in the subject-line, and please note this internship does not involve film production.
Acquisitions & Granting/Education/Global Lens Film Series
The Global Film Initiative (GFI) — a non–profit film organization specializing in the acquisition, distribution and support of independent film from the developing world — seeks an enthusiastic intern to help with its Granting and Education programs, and the Global Lens film series!
What is Global Lens? An annual, touring film series comprised of award-winning films from around the world. What are the Education and Granting programs? Visit our website and find out. What will you be doing? Many, many things:
• Script and film– coverage
• Screen films for possible series-acquisition
• Write and create materials for series education program
• Research film festivals, theatrical venues and organizations that support independent world cinema
• And more
We require an 8–10 hour/week commitment for one academic quarter or semester, and high school and college applicants are welcome (if you’ re in high school, you need to be 16 or older). As a GFI intern you will have a chance to watch films rarely seen in the United States and the opportunity to be part of small organization with a large vision for the future of independent world cinema.
If this sounds like something you're interested in, please send a resume and cover letter to: employment@globalfilm.org
Please include "GFI Intern Application" in the subject–line and note that this internship does not involve film production.
